Manx 100 – Covid 19

As you can imagine our planning for 2020 started on 28th July 2019, whilst we were keeping warm and dry.

Whilst much of it was tweaks and subtle changes we were discussing major changes to timing and trackers and a route twitch.

In March 2020 the planning changed from all systems go and the associated excitement, to SHIT….

The lockdown, borders being closed, the virus and all the life upending “stuff” meant, to be brutally honest, the ‘100 was put on a back burner – so far back it was cold.

Where are we now ? We still don’t know

Well, the new normal, is becoming normal. And we don’t like it.

What we do know:

The Isle of Man has gone from “Stay Home” to “Stay Safe” and has moved into a new phase of the lockdown.  Stay Safe has 6 phases, phase 1 started 3 weeks ago, phase 2 is likely to start on 18th May (ish), phase 6 is BORDERS OPEN!

Here lies our problem.  The manx borders are closed…

It has been hinted that even when we hit phase 6, there may still be restrictions for travel (for example, 2 week isolation!).

So we have made a decision and here we are going to have to say “sorry” to all our off island riders.

You will not be able to participate in this years event.

If you have already entered, please let us know (via Nigel@ManxMTB.com) if you want a refund, for your entry to go toward the Manx Solidarity Fund which is a new charity set up to support locals in the Covid 19 situation, or want your entry to be transferred to 2021 (you will not be charged additionally if there is a price uplift for 2021).

For the manxies: (the above applies to you lot as well if you so wish)

There is NO GUARANTEE THAT ANY OF THIS WILL HAPPEN, OR WE COULD BE BACK TO NORMAL, BUT LETS BE POSITIVE….
